At its heart, Sagarpare represents a bridge between cultures—honoring Bengali traditions while embracing the diversity and multicultural spirit of Canada.

Our mission is to preserve, celebrate, and promote the cultural heritage of the Bengali-speaking community while fostering inclusivity, cultural exchange, and community engagement.

We strive to:

  • Celebrate and preserve Bengali traditions, arts, and cultural values
  • Provide a platform for community members to connect, collaborate, and support one another
  • Organize cultural and social events that strengthen community bonds
  • Encourage younger generations to stay connected to their cultural roots
  • Promote multicultural understanding and collaboration within the wider Canadian community

Our History

Sagarpare was founded by a small group of passionate Bengali families who wanted to create a sense of home and belonging for the growing Bengali-speaking community in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Far away from their roots, they came together with a shared vision — to preserve Bengali traditions, celebrate cultural heritage, and build lasting connections through community gatherings and cultural events.

Over the decades, Sagarpare has grown from a modest community initiative into a vibrant cultural organization that continues to unite generations through festivals, music, food, art, and shared traditions. What began as small gatherings among friends and families has evolved into large annual celebrations that bring together people from diverse backgrounds to experience the richness of Bengali culture.

For more than 40 years, Sagarpare has proudly organized beloved community events including Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, and Summer Picnic. These events have become meaningful traditions that strengthen community bonds while passing cultural values and memories to future generations.

Today, Sagarpare continues to thrive through the dedication of volunteers, members, families, and supporters who believe in the importance of community, inclusivity, and cultural preservation. As the organization grows, its mission remains the same — to create a welcoming space where culture, friendship, and togetherness can flourish for years to come.
